A select group of paramedics from Ambulance Tasmania have also been highly trained in helicopter rescue operations.
These dedicated men and women are often called upon to enter challenging environments to administer medical care. A member of this medical team is onboard for all medical emergencies.
Neale joined the Tasmanian Ambulance Service at Devonport in 1982 and carved out a career in the North Western Region to become a paramedic qualified in airway management skills, vehicle and wilderness rescue. He also gained an interest in training others and often took over as a Clinical Instructor.
Moving to the Southern Region his skills were utilised as a member of the Wilderness Rescue Squad, Neale was internationally recognised when he rescued a well-known rock climber in difficult circumstances from the Needles rock formation on the South East Coast of Tasmania.
