| The Crew |
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter
Service is serviced by a group of dedicated crew members
and pilots.
Rotor-Lift Pty Limited employs suitably qualified pilots
to fly the rescue helicopter at any time of the day
or night and at times in adverse weather conditions.
All pilots require a high degree of flying experience
and search and rescue expertise. |
| Tasmania Police provides
fully trained and qualified crew members who are responsible
for the operation within and surrounding the aircraft.
The crew members are the eyes and ears for the pilots
who are unable to see what is happening at the rear
of the helicopter and also the winch operators. |
|
|
Whenever the rescue helicopter flies on a rescue
mission, a qualified crew member needs to be in attendance.
Tasmania Police also provides qualified divers who
will be winched out of the rescue helicopter when
a person needs to be rescued over water or over a
boat. These members are highly trained for this extremely
dangerous operation.
The Tasmanian Ambulance Service provides highly qualified
paramedics who will attend at all motor vehicle accidents,
medical emergencies and will also be winched out of
the aircraft to attend to medical emergencies at incidents
where the rescue helicopter is unable to land.
